bollywood Bye Year 2006 and Welcome Year 2007 !


The year 2006 can be considered fairly successful for a volatile industry like Bollywood. The year kicked off with a path breaking blockbuster like Rang De Basanti, and with the phenomenal success of Dhoom 2 we can safely draw curtains on 2006.

If you thought 2006 was the year for big Bollywood blockbusters, then think twice, as 2007 promises to be even bigger and better.

Film industries across the globe have a tendency to jump on the winning formula, so 2007 will also bank on renowned banners and sequels, following the success of Krissh, Munnabhai, and Dhoom. Although a clearer picture of 2007 releases will appear only when we step into the new year, a few producers however have finalized the release date of their films already.

Have a glance at the names and stars associated with some of the upcoming releases and you know that 2007 is going to be yet another great year for Bollywood when it comes to new stories being told with innovation and style.

Salaam-E-IshqJanuary 2007 will see the release of Tara Rum Pum from Yash Raj Films in London with Salaam-E-Ishq which has been directed by Nikhil Advani. UTV Motion Pictures based in London will also release Mira Nair’s The Namesake in March whilst April 2007 will see the release of the thriller, Mr Fraud from masters of suspense, Abbas Mustan.

Amitabh Bachchan makes a towering appearance once again in the lead role of 'Eklavya', and the presence of dynamic actors like Sanjay Dutt [in the role of a cop], Jackie Shroff and Saif Ali Khan in the cast and you know that this is going to be one casting coup of the coming year.

Diwali 2007 will see the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya and Ashutosh Gowriker’s historical epic Akbar Jodha which will star Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan in the lead. And what better way to complete a fabulous year with Vivek Aghnihotri’s – Goal, starring the much in demand couple John Abraham and Bipasha Basu.

'Eklavya'Nothing succeeds like success, the remarkable success sequels, will follow into 2007 with Sarkar 2 starring the main protagonists of the original, Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan
The makers of last year's super-hit animation film "Hanuman" are returning with a follow-up to the blockbuster, which dramatizes the life of the Hindu mythological god, Hanuman, a Rs 150 million project and is slated for a release during Diwali next year.
